AsiaPop Comic Con Manila 2015: David Mack, C.B. Cebulski, David Yardin, Leinil Yu and More Announced As Guests

With just 3.5 weeks to go, AsiaPop Comic Con Manila announces a long list of fantastic guests for the event that includes several comic book guests and a couple more toy designer guests!

Included in the list of guests announced in this round is one of Red Dot Diva's personal favourites, the multi-talented and very bicepstuous David Mack, creator of the Kabuki series and writer/ artist of Marvel's "Daredevil" and "Daredevil: End of Days".

David has also written a children's book called "Shy Creatures". But the most mesmerizing part of having DMack in a convention show is when he whips out his brushes, paper and ink, and starts drawing live. Biceps flexes included.

Don't believe Red Dot Diva about the biceps? Just view this interview video of DMack and "Fight Club" creator Chuck Palaniuk with CBR.

*ogle, ogle*

David loves meeting his fans and chatting with people who are still new to his various works, so do stop by his booth at APCC. Besides, he always has loads of artistic eye candy with him - books, art prints, original art and sometimes, even t-shirts!

Joining DMack are DC Comics' Senior Vice President Hank Kanalz, Marvel's C.B. Cebulski and artist David Yardin. Both Hank Kanalz and C.B. Cebulski will be on the hunt for artistic talent at the convention. (Details about portfolio reviews at APCC Manila are here!) Red Dot Diva has not met Hank Kanalz before, but C.B. is a familiar face as he has been dropping by to different conventions in the region. Do look out on for news on this on C.B.'s interesting Twitter feed, where he often offers sound and practical advice to those intending to step into the comic industry.

Artist David Yardin has provided promotional work for Marvel movies "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron". He has also worked with other publishers and comics, like DC Comics’ "Injustice: Gods Among Us".

David trained under Whilce Portacio many years ago, and this will be the first time he's back in Manila since. At APCC, he will be doing signings, sketches and will have original art, art prints and sketch books at his booth. He has also tweeted to say that his commissions list is now open too!

Give him a real good welcome, people!

It's not a Filipino pop-culture convention without the wonderful artists who call the Philippines their home! Many of these artists are not only talented, they are such lovely people too! They are one of the reasons Red Dot Diva is excited to meet them again at their homeland!

The Pinoy artist contingent (other than Whilce Portacio who has been announced previously) attending the convention as guests are:
- Leinil Yu
- Mico Suayan
- Carlo Pagulayan
- Stephen Segovia
- Mark Torres

If you are interested in the behind the scenes and props side of things, Academy-Award winning character effects studio Amalgamated Dynamics, Inc (ADI) will be heading to APCC! The company's animatronics and make-up work have been featured in movies like "Death Becomes Her", "Starship Troopers", "Alien 3", "X-Men: First Class", and "Ender's Game". Founders of ADI, Alec Gillis and Tom Woodruff, Jr will be in Manila to share their knowledge in a panel. This sounds very exciting!

In the world of toy collecting, fans would be delighted to know that designer J*RYU and Simone Legno from Tokidoki will be at the convention.

In the first APCC exhibitors' announcement, some familiar names include LEGO, Swatch, TeeTurtle, Bankee Trading Inc, Comicave Studios, National Bookstore and Hero TV (a partner for The CAGE).

With regards to The Cage - the huge cosplay competition that will be taking place at APCC Manila - internet celebrity Allison Harvard has now joined the list of esteemed judges!

The Cage is an event that would help elevate the status of a serious cosplayer around the region, as the competition will allow the winners to compete on an international field.

Cosplayers who want to take part, do submit your application at this link, like their Facebook page, and follow on Twitter @CageCosplay to find out more about the competition.

To end off with a glittery personal pimpin' note, Red Dot Diva is proud to announce that she is an Online Media Partner of APCC Manila! :D Together with Ed from Toys-etc and Mark from Geekmatic, the bloggers alliance will be trawling the convention for the news, happenings and photo ops!
